Schools In Session: Classroom Tour

Today was the day that we started back our intentional learning. It was met with great excitement and the kids weren't disappointed one bit. I thought I take a moment to share our learning space.

First up a picture of the kids this morning.

From left to right: Michelle,an eighth grader attending public school, Ken is a fifth grader homeschooled, and DJ a third grader homeschooled.

Now lets' enter their main learning area.

This is their table space. I set this area up specifically for DJ and Ken, they also share learning space with preschoolers. This is the area where the preschoolers are not allowed right now, mainly because of the materials that are on the shelves, they haven't made it to this stage of learning just yet:)

                                                   Geography table

                                                          Math Shelves

These two shelves have language materials on them, and the files in the holder hold all the papers that they will need to make landform booklets, nomenclature books, stamp game paper, etc.

                                                  Another language shelf

Now we are walking out the room where all materials are shared by everyone.

                                         Astronomy, History, Physical Science table

                                                    Sensorial and Math shelves

Language shelves. Ken and DJ still use the Metals Insets that are on the table.

Botany and Zoology

                                                           Practical Life

More Practical Life shelves in the kitchen.

So this is where we will be learning from sun up to sun down (just kidding:)  Really I wanted to make their materials avaliable to them whenever the occasion arose that they may feel like doing some spontaeous learning. Also I did not like the idea of secluding them from the preschool children because I value mixed age groupings. With Ken and DJ it is a bit of an age range between them and the preschoolers but I think it will all work out.

Today Ken gave Jamesha  her second lesson in Polishing Pennies.
