Lego kits have inspired Ken and DJ to explore some of the different Landmarks in our world. They have been very busy putting the models together, and also doing some research about the buildings and the countries where they are located.
Taj Mahal
Empire State Building

DJ is actually still working on this model, and completing the printables that came from Homeschool Creations. DJ is eagerly wanting to work on his next model.....
Ken is working on building the White House which I forgot to take a picture of. Ken was inspired by her poetry unit that is about the geography of the United States. The Montessori philosophy is becoming a way of life for us here. Sometimes it is not all about the true Montessori materials, but how you can incorporate the method into whatever you have on hand. Philosophy behind Montessori definitely trumps specific materials in the homeschool setting. My kids would love those building sets when they are a little older.

I totally agree with you and with Heidi! Montessori philosophy can be applied to just about anything! My son spent a lot of time putting together 3-D puzzles of landmarks when he was younger and learned some amazing things in the process. Thanks for linking up with Montessori Monday. I featured this at the Living Montessori Now Facebook page.
