February Project Plans

The kids did very well with staying focused on their goals in January. I noticed project time needed some inspiration too. Over the weekend the kid's started working on their projects totally based on their interest. Now our mornings will be spent on them continuing their goals for their required learning time, and their afternoons will be filled with them working on their projects.

DJ started back working on building a robot with his Lego Mindstorms.

He has been focusing a lot on programming.
A specific goal he has is to build the rover with the Exploration Mars extension kit. If he can successfully program the rover he can get a feed that will allow him to get recent updates from NASA's Rover on Mars.

Ken has been hanging out with the fairies and having fun learning to weave.

I pulled out my small potholder loom to introduce it to the preschoolers and she was hooked once I showed her how to do it.  We went out and got her a loom of her own and some materials for her to make a fairy backdrop for a photo shoot.
The  love of fairies comes from this book that she received as a Christmas present. Those who know Ken knows she loves Gnomes in the garden,

                   Here are her materials.

  • Some moss, river rocks, and a glass vase to make a fairy pond.
  • Bottles for some fairy dust
  • Fabric to make curtains for the background drop.
  • A birdhouse and paints to hopefully sew a owl to live in.
  • The loom to make some fairy rugs.
Ken also has been reading a lot of Grimm's Fairy Tales too. One of her favorite things has been comparing the fairy tales to the original stories to the ones that she has only heard part of the story, like Cinderella. The book has over 100 fairy tales.

Michelle has been reading up on chocolate.

So it was no surprise that she wanted to gets hands on with this:)

I am looking forward to taste testing!!
I didn't have a clue about the nasty side of the chocolate business, but Michelle has been sharing with me her findings along the way.

This is a outline of their plan that may be subject to change at any given moment especially when it involves Legos, fairies and chocolate.
