The Kindergarten Corner: Winter Week 1~2013

This week has been amazing! Janessa came back to school full of energy and pleased about the activities that were available to her. The downside is she has been absent since Wednesday with illness. Unfortunately her family has the flu. I think it is going around town because as the week progressed I have been losing children to the sickies:(

Janessa did quite a few reading and writing works. She finished reading "Who Took The Cake?" and has moved on to the "an" word family. In writing she has been perfecting her letter formations and writing real and nonsense words. Janessa is fond of copying words that she finds in the environment. When I took pictures of some of the language works I didn't have the memory card in the camera, I have been doing this a lot lately.

In Math she has been working independently with the Golden Bead material creating the 45 layout. Questioning what the addition sign means( her older sister is doing this work at home). I will present her with some addition work next week.

Janessa has taken to the tally mark work and repeated this work numerous of times.

Also she discovered the concept of non-standard measurement with the Brown Stairs.
Janessa spent quite a bit of time with the Geometric Cabinet too.

Mostly she has deepening her concentration with Practical Life work.

                                                                    Washing toys
                                                                       Shoe polishing
                                                                       Wood polishing

Janessa was super excited to see spin art as a choice on the art shelf.

Janessa also spent time making silence at the Peace Corner.

I am linking this post to the Preschool/ Kindergarten corner hosted by Homeschool Creations.

  4. I have been reading your blog for a little while now (almost a year) :) and I know you have heard this sooooo many times but your kids always seem engaged and you always have so much for them to be stimulated by. Really awesome!I think that if I didn't love homeschooling my girls so much and lived anywhere remotely close to you, I'd send my girls to you! (smile)

    1. Thank you so much for the compliment!! I would love to be in the company of your girls!!!
