Weekly Wrap Up

In our reading this week both kids read five chapters aloud this week in their reading books. They have made a lot of connections to their read alouds that also prompted some research. Ken is becoming more fascinated with the human body. In her go along book she learned new information about caring for our mouth, ears, and face. They really took to their language works this week. Below are pictures and descriptions of most of their work in this area.

Using the dictionary to study spelling words.
Communicating on walkie talkie with Ken during spelling quiz given by each other.
Both of them enjoyed working with the adverb grammar filling boxes.

Math was quite different this week. They requested worksheet activities it was amazing to see how much they have grown in this area. Putting pencil to paper was a great way to see that they are mastering concepts.

This photo was taken by DJ, he loves these flashcards. Now he is timing himself to see how accurate he is against speed.

When it comes to the sciences these two kiddos just take off. They make up their own work and follow through with what they have set out to do.
DJ spent some time this week drawing different cells. He also completed a experiment to look at his own cheek cell.

Ken has been studying butterflies and can now name a few, and describe their physical characteristics as well as their favorite flowers.
The Snap Circuit made it back into rotation.

The kids have been enjoying their hard work preparing the backyard for the season. We did a happy dance when DJ found a toad in the backyard.

DJ and his catapult project is still going strong. Below is a picture of him sanding the wood, he did this for at least a hour on one piece!!
Ken's dress is coming along nicely.
