Daily Report: Saint Elmo's Fire

We decided to begin the day with reading THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE. They found out that Edmund has left in search of Turkish Delight. Unfortunately he heard all the things Mr. Beaver shared with the other children about The Witch, and important information about Aslan that The Witch shouldn't know. Edmund is now at The Witchs' House!! They learned more about Villians and used words to describe The Witch and her powers. They also choose two other villains in a movie or books that they have read and did the same writing exercise for each villian. DJ chose The Green Goblin and The Joker. Ken chose Captain Hook, and Rapunzels' fake mother.

Next they made Driedels and had fun playing a couple rounds of the game.

During their Montessori Work Period they worked with.....

                                Constructive Triangles
Again DJ worked with the human body model, he is getting really good at identifying the organs.
Ken worked with the Children From Around The World, and Endangered Animals that led to her looking and identifying different bodies of water that were located in the different continents using the globe

                    The Algebraic Trinomial Cube.

While Ken worked in the Life of Fred book she became quite concerned about the matter of cigarette smoking being brought up again. The kids wanted to get to work quickly in thses books so I didn't really get a chance to proof read the books at all. I do know that these books are part of the elementary series who would of thought?

Once again the kids got interested in what we were reading this time it was more about the explorer Magellan. They got real interested in learning about the strange effect that made the masts glow and flicker with a ghostly light known as Saint Elmos' Fire. They were able to get a understanding on how far in history we are studying in terms of when electricity was discovered. We truly had a wonderful social studies lesson today and I do believe this was the highlight of their day along with playing Dreidel.
