Kinesthetic Number Line

Ken reviewed the difference in negative and positive numbers yesterday.
To do this activity she placed floor cards and assembled a number line. I placed a number line she previously used in another lesson to use a reference, but she didn't need it.

Ken illustrated that she knows negative numbers are on the left on the line.

Ken placed the positive numbers on the right of zero.
 We played a game where she moved to different numbers on the number line by my direction. For example, starting at zero move five steps to the left.

    Go back to zero and move five steps to the right.

When we were finished playing this game she could tell me without a doubt that an absolute value is the number zero or a positive number.
