DJ has been really working hard on learning everything there is to know to become a veterinarian. He has even picked out the university that he will be attending! Which means for now he has decided to go to college, it is so great to hear his plans that he has made for his future. That is my goal as a homeschooling mother to instill a love for life long learning. At eight he has plans to move to Colorado and here's the kicker he has made plans for me to move there too:) That way I can help him study. LOL. Little does he know he already knows more than me about veterinarian science, I just prepare the environment and learn alongside.
When I came across this learning material I knew it would be a perfect surprise for him.
It comes with 14 animal x-rays.
There are 14 matching pictures for the child to use for various activities as well.
The photos are very nice and this material was well put together. I was happy about this because I know DJ will be working with this material for a long while.
DJ has been learning all sorts of things like which animals are vertebrae, understanding vocabulary words like exoskeleton and applying his knowledge to reassure himself that he has grasped these things. It has been fun for him to role play different situations as well. Earlier this week he started investigating pigs and made one using brads, and construction paper.
On his Wish List for Christmas is a pig specimen for dissection. Oh my!!

That set is wonderful! I would have loved it as a child, too.
ReplyDeleteI remember doing things like that as a child, and it worked for me. Graduated from University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Now i work part time and stay home the remainder of the time with my kids. Although, my dream now is to become a stay at home mom and homeschool, I am still very pleased that I achieved my child hood dream. Go DJ!
ReplyDeleteI shared your comment with DJ and he said Thank you while he was jumping up and down that a real Veterinarian left a comment for him. Thank you so much!!
