Learning The Parts of the Mountain

While working with our Time Line of Life we have been learning about mountains. The subject of mountains sparked much interest and I thought it would be fun and educational to learn about the parts of the mountain at this time.

Using the Parts of the Mountain cards from Montessori Print Shop, we were able to see and define the parts.

Next I gave them some air dry clay to make their own mountain.

We did this in the morning which was perfect and allowed them plenty of time to work with it.

While they were molding their mountains they were using the terminology of the parts of the mountain to be sure that they were indeed making a mountain with all its parts.

  Here is a slope.

After the clay dries they will paint the parts and label their mountain with flags attached to toothpicks.

Join in the fun and visit All Things Beautiful  to see more children doing geography or history activities.
